In August the Collegium had recommended Justice Sreedharan’s transfer to Chhattisgarh High Court, which was later modified by the Collegium after reconsideration was sought by the Government.
The Collegium in August 2025, had earlier recommended Justice Sreedharan’s transfer to Chhattisgarh High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium on 25-8-2025, recommended the appointed of the 2 High Court Chief Justices as Supreme Court Judges.
The Collegium led by CJI B.R. Gavai made the transfer/repatriation recommendations in meetings held on 25/26-8-2025.
The Collegium recommended appointing 6 Permanent Judges for Bombay High Court and 3 Permanent Judges for Kerala High Court.
At present, the working strength of the Supreme Court is at 32 Judges, if the recommendations are confirmed, then the Court will function at its full strength of 34 Judges.
On 19-8-2025, the Collegium recommended 3 Judges as Permanent & Additional Judges of Gauhati High Court and 14 Advocates as Judges of Bombay High Court.
There is a vacancy of 36 Judges against sanctioned strength of 85 Judges in Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The Collegium led by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai held a meeting on 28-07-2025 to approve and recommend the appointment of several judges in Karnataka, Calcutta, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, and Bombay High Court.
“It is unconscionable that Swetashree Majumder and Rajesh Datar have not been appointed as judges only because the Union Government has refused to process their names for appointment.”
The Collegium led by CJI B.R. Gavai held meetings on two consecutive days to recommend the names fit for elevation.
The Collegium consisting of senior-most Judges of the Supreme Court, made the recommendations on 26-5-2025.

Collegium recommended appointment of Chief Justices for Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gauhati, Patna and Jharkhand High Courts.
In his first meeting as head of the Collegium, CJI B.R. Gavai recommended the elevation of 2 High Court Chief Justices and 1 High Court Judge to the Supreme Court.
