USLLS GGSIPU Hosts IPR Week 2.0 on “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP”

IPR Week 2.0, organised by the Intellectual Property Rights Cell of USLLS, GGSIPU, in collaboration with the IPU-IPR Cell, explored the theme “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP.” The week-long event featured expert lectures, competitions, and a panel discussion on AI, creativity, and the future of music rights, drawing participation from top law schools across India.

IPR Week 2025 GGSIPU

IPR Week 2.0, 2025 was organized by the Intellectual Property Rights Cell, University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS), GGSIPU, in collaboration with the IPU-IPR Cell, from September 15—19, 2025, at the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka Campus, New Delhi. The event, themed “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP,” aimed to raise awareness about intellectual property rights in creative and technological sectors, explore the intersection of IP law and the music industry, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. It attracted students, faculty, legal professionals, and industry experts from leading law schools across India, including Government Law College (Mumbai), Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Amity University, and USLLS, GGSIPU.

The week began with the Inaugural Ceremony on September 15, 2025, graced by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Unnat P. Pandit (Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trademarks, DPIIT, GOI) and Guest of Honour Dr. Sanjivni Kaul Raina (Faculty of Law, Delhi University). The ceremony featured keynote speeches on the economic impact of IPR and the role of AI in music, followed by the inauguration of the IPR Exhibition. This event saw participation of over 120 students. The exhibition featured innovative projects, research posters, and creative works related to intellectual property rights. It provided a platform for students to showcase their understanding of IP law and its applications. On September 16, 2025, a movie screening of “Flash of Genius” was held to raise awareness about patent law and IP rights.

The Case Study Competition (September 17, 2025), themed “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP,” saw numerous registrations from top law schools, with 14 teams shortlisted for the final round. Participants tackled contemporary challenges such as performer’s rights, moral rights, copyright assignments, and AI’s impact on the music industry. The Trademark Logo Making Competition (September 18, 2025) featured 9 finalist teams, who presented original, trademark-ready logo designs. The Declamation Competition (September 18, 2025) drew over 50 participants, with 10 finalists delivering persuasive speeches on IP-related topics.

The concluding day (September 19, 2025) featured a Panel Discussion on “AI and Creativity in the New Music Economy”, followed by the Valedictory Ceremony. The panel included Mr. Ameet Dutta (ADP Law Offices), Dr. G.R. Raghavender (DPIIT), Prof. Eashan Ghosh (NLU Delhi), and Prof. (Dr.) Queeny Pradhan (Dean, USLLS), focusing on adaptive legal frameworks for AI and music rights. The Valedictory Ceremony celebrated the success of the week, recognizing the efforts of participants, organizers, and volunteers.

The organizing team of IPR Week 2.0, 2025 was led under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, GGSIPU, with Prof. (Dr.) Queeny Pradhan, Dean, USLLS, and Prof. (Dr.) Lisa P. Lukose, Chairperson, IPU-IPR Cell, serving as Patrons. The IPU-IPR Cell members included Prof. (Dr.) Neena Sinha, Prof. (Dr.) Amit Prakash Singh, Prof. Bhanu Prakash Joshi, Prof. Tiju T. Thomas, and Prof. (Dr.) Gurujit Singh. The Faculty Convenor and Faculty Coordinator for the USLLS IPR Cell was Prof. Lisa P. Lukose and Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Singh, respectively, supported by Research Scholar Coordinators Mrs. Pooja Arora, Ms. Chhitiz Parashar, Ms. Divya Girsa, and Ms. Anmol Upadhyaya. The student organizing team comprised Jiya Mehta and Ishita Singh (Convenors), Tanya Bhattamishra and Sophia Chaswal (Co-Convenors), Jehov Thomas (General Secretary), Vaishnavi Chauhan (Joint Secretary) and the entire student team of USLLS IPR Cell. Together, they ensured the seamless execution of the event.

Key takeaways included the importance of interdisciplinary engagement, the need for legal frameworks to address AI and digital innovation, and the enhancement of research, analytical, and presentation skills among participants. The week concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony, celebrating the success of IPR Week 2.0 in fostering dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in the field of intellectual property.
