President appoints Chief Justices of 5 High Courts

Chief Justices of 5 High Courts

On 14-7-2025, the President of India, in exercise of powers under Article 217(1) of the Constitution, appointed Chief Justices for the following High Courts:

  • Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, to be Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court
  • Justice Ashutosh Kumar, Judge of the Patna High Court, to be Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court
  • Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, Judge, Patna High Court, to be Chief Justice of the Patna High Court
  • Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, to be Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court
  • Justice Vibhu Bakhru, Judge of the Delhi High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.

On 26-5-2025, the Supreme Court Collegium headed by CJI B.R. Gavai recommended the elevation of afore-stated Judges as Chief Justices.
